This haiku was troublesome for me ~ the idea is that someone took smack, expected the romantic version of an H-high, but it never showed up ~ instead they got lost...hence they're asking for a map to xanadu...desperate for some direction and hoping that the romantic, or even Romantic (if you ask Coleridge) notion of the opium high is still possible.
Of course, it isn't and this person will be dead soon.
